The Blackmagic Camera ProDock, developed by Blackmagic Design, is an E/S expansion module designed specifically to integrate into an iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max within professional audiovisual production pipelines. At functional level, it acts as a physical connectivity hub that exposes typical interfaces of broadcast environments directly on the mobile device, including a type A HDMI output for external monitoring synchronized with the signal generated by the Blackmagic Camera application, multiple USB-C ports for peripherals and external storage, and BNC connectors dedicated to reference signals (genlock) and time code. This architecture allows the system to operate as a synchronized node within multi-camera configurations, aligning phase and time frame with other equipment by external reference.

From the electrical and system point of view, the ProDock incorporates a DC power input of 12–15 V (up to 60 W) with managed energy distribution to USB-C ports (5 V, up to 7.5 W per port), enabling the simultaneous operation of multiple non-performance accessories. It also integrates analog audio interfaces (entry/output 3.5 mm) for direct capture and monitoring, as well as state and synchrony LED indicators. Interconnection topology is optimized for sustained data flows to external storage and control devices, maintaining compatibility with high-bit codec recording (such as ProRes) and facilitating workflows of direct ingestion. Together, the system converts a mobile device into an acquisition endpoint with E/S synchronization, monitoring and expansion capabilities equivalent to professional digital camera solutions in live production environments or digital cinema.
